This page is dedicated to the Coliseum. When you win a battle, you have 30% or 40% chance of getting a rare material.

Woodlands

The Woodlands arena is pretty small and it's quite difficult to run away from your opponents. However, with the Kokiri Clothes, you can stand on the edge of the arena and shoot lots of arrows with the Bow. If one of your opponents chases you, you can flee while shooting arrows in his direction. With the Big Bomb Outfit, your bigger bombs cause more damage. Wait for a bomb to start flashing before throwing it, to prevent the other players to grab it and send it back. If one of your opponents chooses the Big Bomb Outfit, you can pick up the Bombs before him and so thwart his strategy.

Riverside

The Riverside arena is covered in water at 90%, which can be tricky when you know that you can neither fight nor defend yourself when you are in the water. Therefore you can choose the Zora Costume to get out of the water first and strike your opponents who are still in the water. You can also wear the Robo Wear. The difficult thing is to manage to hit an opponent, but with this outfit, the Gripshot is faster and has a larger range. Once you have hit a player, not only are you pulled to him, but he will also be stunned. You just have to strike him and run to start again, or you can also carry him and throw him off the platform.

Volcano

The Volcano arena looks a bit like the boss lair in the Temple of Fire. It's circular, with three lava geysers which sometimes cover part of the arena. The Goron Garb can be a real advantage as the lava has no effect on it. Furthermore, as items cannot go through the fire, the Goron Garb allows you to cross the lava and spring on your opponents before they have time to react. Apart from this outfit, the Boomeranger also has advantages, because the Boomerang is twice bigger and has a larger range. So it's easier to catch an opponent and throw him out of the arena.

Ice Cavern

The Ice Cavern arena is covered in ice with ice blocks which can be temporarily destroyed, revealing holes, so be careful not to fall down. In this arena, one strategy is to choose the Cozy Parka so you can easily move, which is a big advantage over your opponents who will have trouble to reach you. Another strategy is to put on the Hammerwear and use it like crazy. With this outfit, the Hammer is a terrific weapon thanks to its large range and the damage done. However this technique can be dangerous, as if one of the players picks up the Hammer before you, you end up with a useless costume. You can also be naughty and grab the Hammer before the players wearing the Hammerwear.

Fortress

The Fortress arena looks like a checkerboard, made of grated squares which retract regularly, revealing holes. The only safe parts are the slabs around these grated squares. So, to be able to hit an opponent, you first have to go round, which can be tricky when another player has the Gust Jar or Gripshot. To quickly reach an opponent, the Ninja Gi is a real plus. By rushing with the L or R buttons, you can quickly reach an opponent and what's more, you make more damage if you can hit him while rushing at him. The Robo Wear is also very useful, as there's no need to go round anymore, you only have to hit an opponent to be pulled to him. In addition, he's stunned and defenseless.

The Dunes

The Dunes arena is certainly the most complicated one, as it's a huge balanced platform like the ones you have seen in the Drablands. As there are no items available, the Spin Attack Attire can be useful thanks to the the spin attack's range which is doubled. If you don't have it, the Queen of Hearts and Tingle Tights can be a good alternative. If you can't hit your opponents with your sword, you can also make them fall off by rocking the platform, but be careful not to fall as well. If you start to slide, you can stick to the pillars located on the arena.

The Ruins

The Ruins arena is a rectangle, surrounded by four platforms located on each side. To get on them, you have to walk on the disappearing slabs. Two different items are on each platform, which means that the eight weapons of the game are available here. To win, you can choose the Hammerwear and pick up the Hammer, so you can smash your opponents and cause a lot of damage. However be sure to be the first to take the Hammer, or you would have a useless outfit for this battle. With the Serpent's Toga, you can win safely, as with this outfit, you only have to step on the platform matching your colour and stay still until the end of the game.

Sky Realm

Last arena of the Coliseum, in which there are no item. Circular, without any hole, there is almost no way to run away. Besides, rocks on fire sometimes fall from the sky and can burn the players. The Spin Attack Attire can be a real plus to easily hit your opponents. Otherwise, as the arena is quite large, the Ninja Gi is also practical to cause great damage provided you press the L or R button at the right time. Be also aware that you can lift your opponents and throw them off the platform.

Now here is a list of "tips and tricks" which work in all arenas:

  • The Sword Suit and Sword Master Suit are always efficient, as they can throw beams when your life is full. If another player also chooses one of these costumes, you absolutely must hit him before he does, to prevent him from throwing beams.
  • If you are carried by a player, doing a spin attack will set you free.
  • It's possible to find hearts under tall grass and pots. If you lose hearts at the start of the battle, think of getting some before your opponents.
  • If you don't have many outfits, the Lucky Loungewear can be interesting as you have a small chance to dodge attacks.
  • The Light Armour can burn players when you touch them.
  • Either with the outfits which strenghten your sword, or with the Boomeranger, you can catch a player, not stand too close to the edge, then throw him and hit him while he's falling. This causes more damage.
