Mother Maiamai and her Lost Maiamais

At the entrance of the lake area, a cracked wall can be found, where there is a "forbidden access" sign. Place a bomb next to that wall and get in the cave. Inside lives a sort of pink gastropod. Talk to it: it's Mother Maiamai, a mother who has been separated from her 100 children during a trip. Accept to help her find them and she gives you the Maiamai map which will allow you to find them more easily. From now on, keep your ears open because they make a small noise which helps you locate them!

Hyrule

Lake Hylia area

Just next to Mother Maiamai's cave, merge into the wall, go behind the Lost Maiamai, exit from the wall to unstick it, and pick it up!
[Zora's Flippers required] Get into the lake, swim towards northwest, then swim in the middle of the river which leads to the centre of Hyrule. Before reaching the bridge, dive on something blue. You have found a Lost Maiamai!
[Zora's Flippers required] Swim to the far southeast, then when the river continues to the north, dive on the blue thing.
[Zora's Flippers required] Swim to the south of the House of Gales and dive to find a Lost Maiamai.
[Tornado Rod required] Climb on the isle of the House of Gales, stand on the right side and wave the Tornado Rod to unstick a Lost Maiamai! - Thanks to Michael!
[Titan's Mitt required] To the far east of this region, climb the ladder to the north, merge into the wall, go right and exit near the large rock, that you just have to pick up.

Hyrule Field

Behind your own house, turn into a painting and go behind the Lost Maiamai to unstick it!
[Pegasus Boots required] In the big clearing, rush at the tree to the far north to make a Lost Maiamai fall and pick it up.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the north of your house, rush at the lonely tree located northwest of the fence to make a Lost Maiamai fall.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the east of the Cucco Ranch game, rush at the tree to make a Lost Maiamai fall.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the west of Hyrule Castle, rush at the tree just to the left to make another Lost Maiamai fall.
[Pegasus Boots required] Southwest of Kakariko Village, play the Rupee Rush game by talking to the girl. During the game, unstick the Lost Maiamai from the wall to the south.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the north of the smithy, rush at one of the trees (northeast of a small lonely rock) to make a Lost Maiamai fall!
[Zora's Flippers required] In the pond located northwest of Hyrule Castle and to the east of the Fortune Teller's tent.

Sanctuary area / Graveyard

To the west of the Sanctuary, on a wall.
[Zora's Flippers required] In the river located between Hyrule Castle and the Eastern Palace, swim just south of the bridge and dive to find another Lost Maiamai.
[After seeing Lorule] Return to the Sanctuary, go to the far end of the room near the priest and enter the fissure. In Lorule, leave the Sanctuary, go east, climb the ladder, enter the fissure, then merge into the wall and unstick the Lost Maiamai.

Kakariko Village

Northeast of the house of the woman who has troubles to sleep, cut the two bushes where a Lost Maiamai is hidden.
In front of Sahasrahla's house, take the cucco, fly towards southeast onto the purple roof, then throw the rock to find a maiamai. Then get in the house to get 20 rupees. (Before the woman used to say she had troubles to sleep because of the screams from her roof.)
[Sand Rod required] In the village, in the small pen to the south, use the rod on the sand to make a Lost Maiamai spring.

Waterfall area

In the Witch's house, on the left wall.
Just to the north of the Eastern Palace, turn into a painting and go left to find another maiamai above.
[Zora's Flippers required] Northeast of this area, get into the water at the left of the "deep water" sign and dive to find a Lost Maiamai.
[Zora's Flippers required] Northeast of the Witch's house, get into the water, swim towards the big waterfall northwest and get back to dry land just right of this waterfall. Turn into a painting to unstick the Lost Maiamai.

Swamp area

[Pegasus Boots required] In the northeast part of the zone, rush at the statue where the Lost Maiamai lies at the top!
[Zora's Flippers required] In the southeast part of this zone, enter the cave, go north and dive in the water to find another maiamai.
[Zora's Flippers required] In the south part of this zone, dive in a small pond to the right of the building.

Death Mountain

In the south part of this area, pick up a shining small rock (southeast of the "Death Mountain" weather vane).
Enter the cave to the right of the "Death Mountain" weather vane, cross towards northwest and get out south near a chest (which holds 20 rupees). Turn into a painting nearby and continue right until you see the Lost Maiamai.
[Hookshot required] From the Tower of Hera, continue eastward, use the Hookshot to get over the bridge, then continue to the far east and unstick a Lost Maiamai from a hill.
[Hookshot required] From Rosso's Ore Mine (see walkthrough), step onto the moving platform, then when it arrives to the far left, jump on the lower platform, then on the next one, and get off south. Merge into the south wall while avoiding the spitting fire Lynel, walk around it and get off on the moving platform. Move from platform to platform while heading left, then exit south. Jump to the right and lift the rock to find another maiamai.
[Hookshot required] From inside Rosso's Ore Mine (where there are two spitting fire lions), merge into the wall on the right, walk around it and exit on the moving platform. Jump on the next platforms to reach a way out south and get out. Keep moving south, then go left and cross on the wooden logs. Pick up the small rocks to find a Lost Maiamai.
OR: [After seeing Lorule] From the "Death Mountain" fissure, cross the broken bridge and lift the small rocks.

Eastern Palace area

Turn into a painting northeast of the stone columns, go right and stand behind the Lost Maiamai to unstick it.
[Pegasus Boots required] Rush at the tree with yellow leaves located southwest of the palace enclosure to make a Lost Maiamai fall.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the west of the palace enclosure, rush at a large rock located right in the group of rocks to make a Lost Maiamai fall.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the northeast of the river, where it makes a 90 degree angle, rush at the rightmost tree in the group of the five trees.
[Titan's Mitt required] Southeast of the palace enclosure, go south, merge into the wall on the left, go to the far left, then lift the large rock (southwest of the circle of pegs).

Forest

North of the village, on the Fortune Teller's tent, turn into a painting, stand behind the Lost Maiamai and exit to unstick it!
To the south of Rosso's house, against the mountain wall.
In the northeast part of the forest, pick up a small rock (right of another small rock) to find a Lost Maiamai.
In the northwest part of the forest, slice the bushes to find a maiamai (not far from the "Entrance of the Lost Wood" sign).
[Pegasus Boots required] Just after entering the forest through the path near the Fortune Teller's tent, rush at the tree in the centre of the screen.
[Power Gloves and Hammer required] Enter the forest through the path located north of the shop, lift a small rock, go north, turn right, then go south. Keep walking south, pound down the pegs, then pick up the small rock where a Lost Maiamai is hiding.
[Titan's Mitt required] In the first cave leading to Death Mountain, lift the large rock, follow the path northward, then merge into the wall outside and unstick a maiamai.

Desert area

[Sand Rod required] To the northwest of the two columns with a fissure, use the rod to make a Lost Maiamai appear!
[Sand Rod required] To the south of the "Desert Palace" weather vane, wave the rod to make another maiamai appear.
[Titan's Mitt required] Near the entrance, lift a large rock at the right of a line of three red rupees.

Lorule

Lorule Field

On the northwest wall of the vacant house (your house), turn into a painting to find a Lost Maiamai.
In the big clearing, right from the Bomb Shop, go left and cut the bushes to find a maiamai.
From Hyrule, to the far south of the clearing (a little bit on the right), enter the fissure, exit on the high platform, merge into the wall, go right and exit behind the maiamai to pick it up.
To the east of the Thieves' Town, on the outside wall of the blacksmith's house.
Southeast of the Thieves' Town, cut the grass close to the Bomb Flower.
On the outside wall of Lorule Castle, in the southeast corner.
[Pegasus Boots required] Rush at the tree located southeast of the castle and northeast of the vacant house.
[Pegasus Boots required] Southwest of the Thieves' Town, play the Rupee Rush game by speaking to the young man. During the game, unstick the maiamai on the north wall.
[Titan's Mitt required] To the north of the smithy, lift the large rocks to find a maiamai.
[Titan's Mitt required] West of the vacant house (your house), lift the large rock and take the maiamai.

Southern area (Swamp)

On the right, just when entering this zone, unstick a Lost Maiamai on a wall.
Dive in the pond of this area to find another maiamai.
[Pegasus Boots required] In the southeast part of this zone, rush at the statue where a maiamai stands.

Thieves' Town

On a ruined wall, in the southwest corner of the village.
[Pegasus Boots required] Rush at the first tree when entering the village through south.

Sanctuary area / Graveyard

To the east of the Sanctuary, unstick a Lost Maiamai on a wall.
[Pegasus Boots required] Southeast of the graveyard, rush at the tree to make a maiamai fall.
[Titan's Mitt required] In front of the Sanctuary, lift the large rock on the left.

Dark Palace area

Near the labyrinth entrance, head west and unstick a Lost Maiamai on a hedge.
In the labyrinth you need to cross to find the palace entrance, see the walkthrough.
In the area southeast of the palace enclosure, climb the ladder, then merge into the wall and go left up to the green rupees. Continue right and merge again to unstick a maiamai.
[Pegasus Boots required] In the zone west of the Dark Palace enclosure, rush at the rock where you can see a maiamai.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the far southwest of this area, rush at the lonely tree.
[Pegasus Boots required] To the far at the south of this zone, rush at the leftmost tree in the row of five trees.

Waterfall area

From the Witch's house in Hyrule, go east, then south, get down the ladder and enter the fissure. Once in Lorule, climb the ladder, merge into the wall, go left, exit on the high platform, then cut off all the grass to find a maiamai.
From the location of the above maiamai, merge again into the wall, go left and emerge further. Continue north, get into the water on your left, then swim towards southwest and dive to fish out another maiamai.
Jump in the river to the east of where the Witch's house is in Hyrule (the maiamai can be seen from the edge).
From the location of the above maiamai, swim towards east, merge into the wall, go left and exit after the ravine. Continue left and dive in front of the big waterfall.

Skull Woods

On the west wall of the old Sahasrahla's house, unstick a Lost Maiamai.
From the southwest entrance of the forest, head north (up to a tower), continue east, then just a little further south, cut the grass to find a maiamai.
In the northwest corner of the forest, cut off the grass to find another maiamai.
East of the forest, in the "V" formed by the trees, cut the bushes hiding a maiamai.
In the hole, which is a pond in Hyrule, find a maiamai on the right wall.
To the south of the forest, against a wall near many "bomb throwers".
[Pegasus Boots required] To the east of the forest, rush at the tree located south of the ruined house.
[Titan's Mitt required] At the southern entrance of the Skull Woods, lift the large rock and take the maiamai (northwest of the ruined house).

Misery Mire region

From the "Misery Mire" weather vane, jump below and unstick a Lost Maiamai on the wall.
To the southwest of the swamp, dive to retrieve another maiamai.
[Titan's Mitt required] Southeast of the swamp, under a large rock, near the masked guy who loves birds.

Lake Hylia area

In the southeast corner of this zone, merge into the wall in the southeast corner to unstick a Lost Maiamai.
Swim in the lake to the east of the temple and dive in the middle of the rupees to fish out a maiamai.
In the west part of this area (south of the shop), merge into the wall to unstick one maiamai.
In the northeast corner of this zone, climb the ladder, merge into the wall, go left, exit near the skull and pick it up.
[Titan's Mitt required] In the southwest corner of this area, lift the large rock.

Death Mountain

From Hyrule near the "Death Mountain" weather vane, merge into the wall and enter the fissure on the left. Once in Lorule, keep going left, exit near the skull and pick it up.
From the "Death Mountain" weather vane, go east, then south and merge into the wall on the right. Go right and exit behind the Lost Maiamai.
In the caves which lead to the Ice Ruins, from the platform with the Big Ice Gimos (see the walkthrough), go south, move onto the platforms, get out and pick up the skull.
Behind the Ice Ruins, merge into the wall and unstick a maiamai.
[Titan's Mitt required] From the "Death Mountain" weather vane, cross the broken bridge thanks to the Hookshot to the west, and lift the two large side by side rocks.
[Titan's Mitt required] From the "Treacherous Tower" weather vane, follow the narrow path westward and lift the large rock at the end.

After finding 10 maiamais, talk to Mother Maiamai. She says she can upgrade one item you bought (not rented). For each group of 10 maiamais, she upgrades one item of your choice in your inventory.

When you finally return her 100 children, she offers you the Great Spin!

Later, pay her another visit. She says she's off to another dimension with her children. Leave this place and come back once again. This time you meet the 72nd maiamai who stayed behind and wants to be his own maiamai.
